Kiev Institute for the Humanities Established in 1994 Kiev Institute for the Humanities pioneered with other few non-state-run higher educational institutions, which appeared in Ukraine in the first years of independence. The Institute has been rated the third level of state accreditation and certified to offer a choice of degrees for promising careers in international economic and humanitarian activities. Teaching is tailored to national and European educational standards. A range of innovative teaching techniques is in use with an emphasis on an intensive information technology course and compulsory learning not less than two foreign languages.
Among the professors and teachers of the Institute are renowned scientists, diplomats, economists, linguists and translators. Eighty five per cent of the academic staff is doctors and candidates of sciences. More than half of the Institute teachers worked for diplomatic missions of Ukraine and international economic or humanitarian organizations in various countries of Europe, Asia and America. There are authors of the textbooks on international economic relations, management and marketing. Every year the Institute welcomes its visiting lecturers who are members of the National Academy of Sciences, officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, ambassadors to Ukraine, chiefs of the external economic departments, officials of the international humanitarian organizations, top executives of the largest companies, banks and consulting firms.
Kiev Institute for Humanities is an associate of the International Personnel Academy and maintains active business contacts with a number of European universities. A programme of multidisciplinary training in international affairs has been worked out in collaboration with Lancaster University (Great Britain). The Institute annually invites professors of European educational institutions for lecturing on topics of regional geography and anthropology, various aspects of international business and social activities, problems of effective management and marketing under current processes of globalisation.
The library of the Institute has more than 40 thousand items. The students are provided with specially selected course books in all subjects, and also literature and periodicals in Ukrainian, Russian, English, French, German, Spanish and Italian languages.
The internal computer network and hardware of computer classes are maintained to keep pace with modern standards and provide the students and staff with a high-speed access to Internet. The majority of core and all special courses are taught with the use of remote databases available on-line throughout the Institute.
KHI student's scientific society Euroclub manages student's international conferences and seminars, organizes visits of the students to European universities, and maintains business contacts with international organizations in Ukraine.
Student's Business Club arranges meetings with top executives of the leading companies and enterprises, representatives of organizations of entrepreneurs and employers, journalists of the business mass media. The Club organizes business games and competitions of the student's business plans worked out by requests of the Ukrainian companies, provides careers service for the students and assists them with their employment.
There are The English Club, The German Club, The French Club and The Club of the Admirers of the Ukrainian Language. The Institute sponsors its different sports teams and amateur dance and music groups. The Institute's KVN team is a finalist of the KVN contest among the universities and institutes of Kiev.
